Editor
About
he / him
Yannis Sakaridis is a film editor and director with more than thirty years of experience across European and international cinema. His work is defined by narrative precision, emotional restraint, and a deep understanding of rhythm, performance, and cinematic time.
I have served as editor on 14 feature films.as well as award-winning documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, and National Geographic, international commercials, and major studio trailers for Warner Bros. International. His editorial approach favors character-driven storytelling, tension built through omission, and a strong sense of spatial and emotional continuity.
Based in London for eighteen years, he collaborated with leading international production companies and broadcasters before returning to Greece. Most recently, Sakaridis worked on Muse, directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, the Academy Award winning filmmaker behind Ida and Cold War. Produced by MUBI, the project reflects a shared editorial sensibility centered on precision, restraint, and the expressive power of ellipsis. His collaboration with Pawlikowski reinforces his position as an editor trusted with highly controlled cinematic language, where rhythm, silence, and emotional subtext are as critical as narrative structure.
He edited Amerika Square (2016), which received the Best Editing Award from the Hellenic Film Academy, was Greece’s official submission for the Academy Awards (2018), and went on to screen and win awards at major festivals and released worldwide, Wild Duck, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF 2013) and screened at major international festivals worldwide. As both editor and director, Sakaridis moves fluidly between fiction and documentary, maintaining a consistent editorial voice rooted in realism, restraint, and psychological depth.
His editing is invisible when it needs to be and uncompromising when the story demands it.
