Born and raised in Athens and currently residing in Lisbon, Themis Gyrtis is a screenwriter and former assistant director. After his studies in Foreign Languages and Linguistics at the National University of Athens, he began his career in 2007 as an assistant director, collaborating with Greece’s leading production companies on feature films.

In 2017, he transitioned into screenwriting, securing his first writing role on Greece’s longest running sitcom “Min Arhizeis ti Mourmoura” for Alpha TV, creating one of the series’ main couples and writing more than 200 episodes.

In 2021, he created and wrote “On All Fours”, a provocative, inclusive dramedy exploring the life of a disabled young woman and the challenges of living in a wheelchair. The series was produced by ANT1 TV and received international attention when it was presented at MipTV in Cannes in April 2023. “On All Fours” was notably the only non-English-language series selected to be showcased at “The Wit’s Fresh TV Fiction” presentation.

Currently, along with several other projects, he is working on his new series “Viral”, a dark comedy with sci-fi elements exploring the theme of social media. “Viral” has already been selected for the FEST-Pitching Forum 2024 in Portugal and the Owl Screenwriting Workshop 2024 in Athens, and is now in development stage.
