Iris Awards 2020 | The Candidates - Makeup | Dimitra Giatrakou
Make-up artist Dimitra Giatrakou, who has witnessed the passing of years and decades on the faces of the heroes in "Eftyhia", answers Flix's questionnaire, revealing what she will do when the pandemic quarantine ends and how important a Greek Film Academy Award is.
Part of the "Eftyhia" team, Dimitra Giatrakou is nominated for the second time in the Makeup category of the Iris Awards, following "My Enemy" by Giorgos Tsemperopoulos in 2014. She is simultaneously a recognized and experienced creator, having worked over the years on a wide range of films, Greek and international, from "Luton", "Black Field", and "Symptom" to "Nikosstratos: An Exceptional Summer" and "Mamma Mia!". Just before the online award ceremony of the Greek Academy Awards, Dimitra Giatrakou shared thoughts and wishes with Flix.
What is special about your nomination?
It's an honor that the creative character design of the film has been recognized with this nomination, and I am grateful to the cinematic family of "Eftyhia" for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it.
Who would you vote for among your fellow nominees and why?
Every work has its own character and dynamics; all are worthy. I'm glad I'm not in the difficult position of having to choose.
If you could give one thank you speech from the stage of the award ceremony, who would it go to? And why?
I would thank my parents!
How important is a Greek Film Academy Award?
An award given by people with whom we share the same love for cinema gives us inspiration and motivation to move forward.
