About
she / her
Born in Athens, Maria Sarri studied fine arts and received additional training in etching. In 1995 she started teaching grammar school, while writing and illustrating children’s books. From 2002 to 2007 she collaborated with the University Mental Health Research Institute as an art educator for the mentally ill, while she supervised all fine art activities at the Institute’s Psychosocial and Vocational Rehabilitation Unit. During that same period she provided illustrations for Kathimerini’s newspaper supplements OIKO, Popular Science and K, while lending her talents to advertising campaigns, in charge of set and costume design.
2005 saw her engage in a brand new activity: drawing, art directing and digitally processing 3D maps, which later led her to start her own company 3D Maps Productions (www.3dmaps.gr).
Between 2007 and 2011 she lived on the island of Patmos, where in addition to prior professional engagements, she decorated a number of local businesses, adding reworked vintage pieces wherever she could. Remodeling, renovating and painting found furniture has been an ongoing hobby, which she recently added to her professional roster.
Her artwork has been exhibited in many group and solo shows.
Her first connections to the film industry started while still studying, as she worked at the underground movie “Radio Moscow” (1995).
Untill now she has worked in various movies and TV commercials both in the Art and the Costume Departments.
