Actor: Prokopis Agathokleous
Φοίνισσες του Ευριπίδη - The Phoenician Women by Euripides
The first performance of Euripides' Phoenician Women, directed by Magdalena Zira, was given with great success last night, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Makarios III Amphitheater, School of the Blind. With the production, THOK (National Theatre Organisation of Cyprus) participates in the commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
The action of the play is set in Thebes. The seven Argive generals prepare to attack the city under the instructions of the exiled Polyneices, while his brother, Eteocles portrayed by our very own Prokopis Agathocleous, has undertaken its defense. In the play, there is a constant shift of power and the leaders of the city who are blinded by their passions, repeat the mistakes of the past.
